Procedures for Dealing with Problem Behaviors

School teams train the faculty and staff in how to respond to student misbehaviors.  Faculty and staff are trained to understand what constitutes a “major” offense that goes directly to the principal’s office and a “minor” offense that is handled by the classroom teacher. School teams develop an office discipline referral form with all the essential data fields and clarify procedures surrounding the use of office referrals. A process to monitor and document minor student behavior and to guide discipline decisions is developed. Instructional strategies are used for responding to inappropriate behaviors.
