Two Types of RTI²-B Coaches

External Coach:

  • District Leader
  • Oversees District Level RTI²-Behavior

Internal Coach:

  • School Leader
  • Oversees School-wide RTI²-Behavior

Overview & Expectations for External Coach (District Leader)

  1. Expand and sustain implementation of RTI²-Behavior throughout assigned schools
  2. Support the efforts of RTI²-Behavior Internal Coaches to ensure fidelity and sustainability of implementation
  3. Assess training needs and connect with RTI²-Behavior Grant consultants for support and assistance
  4. Support research for RTI²-Behavior and provide technical assistance to teams
  5. Collaborate with RTI²-Behavior Grant to connect students, families, service organizations, and schools to meet student and family needs.

Overview & Expectations for Internal Coach

  1. Oversee planning and implementation of RTI²-B at school site
  2. Communicate with administrators and faculty
  3. Communicate with District Leader (External Coach)
  4. Organize and facilitate RTI²-B leadership and data team meetings
  5. Help coordinate and conduct assessments/fidelity checks

Skills Needed for Coaches

  • Ability to attend meetings
  • Team leadership & communication
  • Knowledge of school operating systems
  • Training in/basic knowledge of PBIS or RTI²-Behavior
  • Basic understanding of data collection & interpretation
  • Problem-solving
